Eric Hogensen

President

Eric Hogensen is a Democratic political consultant with 20+ years of professional experience. Overseeing a campaign consulting firm, HSG Campaigns, Eric is an advocate for bettering the nation’s democratic system and developing new means of opening campaigning to the masses in innovative and creative ways.

His uncanny ability to relate to people and empathy towards each politician’s unique situation serves as a catalyst to his straightforward relationship building. Tapping into his first-hand experience being on the ground as a campaigner helps him understand the stakes, while also allowing him to provide highly executed resources and tools for winning campaigns.

Eric’s proven track record speaks for itself, and his ability to grow HSG speaks to the value his expertise brings to any Democratic campaign at various levels of government. Allowing him to work with a candidate and their campaign staff is the missing link for a successful election, as Eric truly devotes himself to changing the world one vote at a time. His Latino roots play a unique role for candidates and campaigns, especially those who want to relate to and speak to diverse audiences.

Matt Miller

Campaign Projects Director

Matt Miller joined HSG Campaigns in 2019, bringing with him almost a decade of campaign consulting experience and deep local and institutional political knowledge, particularly in the areas of strategy, field and communication.

In 2018, Matt served as Deputy Campaign Manager for Tom Umberg, delivering a surprise defeat to Republican Janet Nguyen. This was one of the top targeted senate races in California and a crucial victory for the Democratic party.

Prior to this, Matt worked with Tom Steyer's NextGen America organization from 2016 to 2018 spearheading political outreach in Los Angeles county. In this role, Matt served as a primary liaison throughout Southern California, generating support for targeted legislation. He also successfully created and planned dozens of tours, events and meetings for NextGen Founder Tom Steyer.

Matt has worked extensively in Southern California politics, particularly in the South Bay area. Prior to his work with NextGen, he brought his skills to a large number of local Democratic campaigns from 2010 forwards. From Assembly races in the San Gabriel Valley and Santa Monica to the School Board victories of Richard Vladovic and Megan Kerr in Los Angeles and Long Beach, respectively. He has worked on multiple City Council races, from candidates who ran in Santa Monica, South Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Matt is a graduate of CSU Northridge, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. He went on to earn a Master's degree in Public Administration from CSU Long Beach.
