Eric Hogensen

IMG_5874-e.jpgEric brings a wide range of political campaign experience to the company, having worked at all levels of the political world, from presidential races, to statewide campaigns, to school board races. He also serves as a Board Member with the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV).

Recognized as a “Rising Star” by Campaigns and Elections magazine in 2012, Eric has helped create and implement innovative, winning strategies for candidates, state Democratic parties, labor, and non-profit organizations.

Since its founding in 2007, Eric and his company, HSG Campaigns, have had a transformative impact on the political landscape. Based in downtown Los Angeles, the company's specialty is taking first-time and underdog candidates to victory, including Milwaukee Alderman Nik Kovac; Cook County’s first female and Hispanic State’s Attorney, Anita Alvarez; and Los Angeles City Councilman Joe Buscaino; all of whom upset their opponents in crowded primaries.

Eric also specializes in helping labor, environmental, and other progressive organizations elect strong candidates to office, producing mail for the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters, and countless other progressive groups. In 2011, HSG Campaigns played a key role in the Wisconsin recall elections, producing mail that aided in the upset victories of three Democratic candidates.

In 2006, Eric steered first-time candidate Dr. Steve Kagen to an upset victory in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District. Eric helped Dr. Kagen defeat two better-known candidates in the primary and then counter a multi-million dollar campaign run by the national Republican Party to prevail in the 2006 November election.

From 2001 to 2004, Hogensen helped Democrats pull through the painful trials of the Bush years. From Massachusetts and South Carolina to Kentucky and Nevada, Eric built Democratic field operations and infrastructure to turn red states blue, county by county.

With a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Eric has the skills and experience to elect progressive candidates to every level of office.
